Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAUREL JOAN MASON September 7, 1967 - January 26, 2008 Laurel Joan has passed from this life to a divine life with our dear Lord, His Angels, with great courage, faith, and dignity, after a very lengthy illness. She was born in Saskatoon on September 7, 1967, and set free from all her pain and suffering in Winnipeg at the Health Sciences Centre on January 26, 2008. Laurel was predeceased by her brother Christopher Paul in 1997 at the age of 26, her favourite, Uncle Bobby in 1989, Uncle David in 2005 and God mother Dorothy James in 2005. Laurel will be missed deeply by her loving and devoted mother Laurie Joan Mason, father Bernard L. Mason residing in British Columbia, her devoted and loving Grandma Nellie M. Prince, brother Richard (United States), sister Barbara (Ontario), her favourite Auntie Georgina who was instrumental in assisting Laurel at Grant Park High School with reading skills and friendships at the school library on a daily basis. She also leaves to mourn her, a loving cousin Sandie, God child of Laurie Joan, and many other relatives. Laurel leaves to mourn her passing a large community of friends, co-workers and caregivers. She will be missed deeply by long time friend Sylvia Wahab; her loving Auntie Liz; her social worker, Buddy she adored Adrienne, Rick Anderson who was always there for her over many years as a friend and confidanté, Randy and Ahmed from Holy Care Transit who treated her as family as they took her on many excursions around town. Laurel gave personal support and service to people living at St. Amant for many years. Working hand in hand with staff and volunteers she assisted in countless events, activities, and fundraisers. Laurel's greatest joy in life was being part of the St. Amant community of care. Her life touched all she knew and loved with so much inspiration. She had a keen mind and tackled every obstacle in her life with patience and maturity, never letting her disability stand in her way. A special thank you to Zena for all your loving care, friendship and support to Laurel and Laurie over the many years. Thank you to all the doctors and incredible nurses at the Health Sciences Centre for caring for Laurel during her courageous fight for life. A special thanks to sister Barbara for assisting her in many ways over the past few years and to brother Richard for coming to be with her during her illness from the United States. Rest in Peace Laurel My little Angel until we meet again. Give your brother in Heaven a hug from Mom. Laurel Joan Mason will be resting at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St., and services will be Friday, February 1, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the Vanhelvert family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Amant Foundation, 440 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 3A9.
